Thank you for your interest in the Maine Academy of Natural Sciences (MeANS), Maine’s first public charter high school established in 2012.
Enrollment is open for 2022-2023!
Newly submitted Interest Forms will be applied to the 2022-2023 school year.
MeANS uses an individualized, project based, hands-on approach with a curricular focus on agriculture, forestry and the environment. The diploma and courses are standards based. Class sizes are small and students develop strong relationships with their teachers. The school’s values are respect, responsibility and community; all of which contribute to a truly positive learning environment.
In addition to our campus, MeANS offers the Threshold program as an alternative. Threshold is an innovative, home-based approach that blends remote learning with one-on-one tutoring. For more information on Threshold, contact Rebecca Dennison at 238-4131.
As a public charter, MeANS is free to its students. However, there is an application process that includes the following steps:
- complete the online Interest Form
- schedule an interview by calling 238-4100
- complete enrollment paperwork after a spot is awarded
You will be offered a spot at the end of the application period as long as an opening exists in the grade level for which you are applying. Please note that a lottery will be held at the end of the enrollment period if there are more applicants than slots in any particular grade.
LOTTERY INFO: Thursday, March 31st, 6:00pm. Moody School Building, 13 Easler Road, Hinckley, Maine 04944.
